Hello fellow Bunnies fans!
April came and went and I've made a lot of progress getting shipping stuff lined out. Here's an update on everything I've done so far!
INSERTS
They're done! I've decided on a final, overall color for the inserts: white! This replaces the multi-color insert pattern I initially had. It's much, much cleaner and I'm really happy with it. After some testing (and a genius idea from my wife) I've made it so there's just one little line of color next to each piece. This allows for minimal color changes for manufacturing while clearly identifying which exact pieces go to which boosters. Now with this new system you can decide any level of booster decks to play at (the most common scenario: you're simplifying the game to accommodate new players) and then immediately pull out the exact pieces you need for that current game. This way you don't have to go check the rule book—or rifle through every single piece to check its booster dot—to know how many Transport Pods or Carrots you need to play with, for example.
Here it is in its full glory with all three sections pieced together:
And this is what it will look like when all the pieces are in it:
One feature I included in the design is that if you hold it by the longest piece (the Series 3 set) then you can lift it up to easily take it out of the big game box.
I put a little indent as an indicator of where the thumb can be placed as you grip the insert.
SHIPPING
Boy, does it take coordination to get shipping all ready.... There are just so many little things I take for granted when Amazon sends me stuff, for example. From the shipping labels to the wrapping to the space filler, there is a lot to consider. I've chosen a supplier for almost everything now, which is the final step before being able to get the assembly line set up. The main things I'll be focusing on this month is getting organized storage ready for the pieces as I manufacture them and making final purchases for all my supplies.
BOXES
I decided to get custom-sized boxes for each Series, which makes them a little more expensive but they'll be the perfect size that I need which will be nice. This month I'll be working on a design for the boxes that I will implement using ... STAMPS! With a 3D printer I can pretty much make any stamp as custom as I want, so I'll be designing those to mark the outside of the boxes. I've done a lot of trial-and-error to get 3D printed stamps working and about by now it looks like I have a good process for it.
There is one surprise that I'm keeping about the design of the boxes.... And I'm going to keep it as a surprise for you to discover when it arrives at your door. ;) I think you'll like it a lot.
SHIPS
I've finally been able to get back to finishing up these ships. As a reminder, I'm doing a Deluxe version and an Ultra Deluxe version of the ships. The connection between the ships and the stands is not consistent from color to color, which poses a significant challenge that I need to get refined ASAP. I'll let you know how this problem irons itself out, but for now I have to get that perfectly pinned up before I can move on to perfecting the printing of the rest of the ships. There are some solutions that will take less time to implement and others that would take ... a lot more.... Hopefully it will be the former.
And that's it for now! Thanks for following.
